General Care

Feeding
Because they are hairless, the cats use a lot of energy to generate a warm body temperature and therefore are hearty eaters. Free feeding (food always available instead of set meal times) with high quality dry food is the best choice. Because of their high metabolism, they need a constant source of water, which should be clean and fresh.
Litter
High quality scoopable litter is best. Clean box daily and change at least once a week. Cleaning and disinfecting the box is important when you change the litter.
Baths
Virtually all cats hate baths, but the Sphynx can be trained to tolerate them if you start at an early age. Bathing is essential for the Sphynx due to their lack of coat. It is best to use a Vet approved ant-microbial and anti-fungal soap. Wash with a soft cloth and always have a towel handy as they need to be dried quickly and completely to avoid chills.
Ear Care
Because they lack hair follicles in their ears, Sphinxes can encounter ear infection problems if they are not cleaned regularly. We recommend once a week. Clean as you would your own ears with Q - tips, and an ear cleaner easily found at your pet store. As with human ears, you should never probe into the ear with the Q - tip. If unsure, ask your vet for cleaning tips.
Behavior

Probably because of their intelligence, Sphinxes are not easily deterred form their goal. Training must begin early and be consistent. They will learn boundaries with your guidance. Provide them with a scratching post when young and keep a misting bottle of water near at hand.
